Each town in Spain has their own feria. Feria is basically, a carnival. But they are the most intense week long carnivals you will ever be a part of in your life. Spain’s most famous feria is ultimately the Feria de Sevilla, which is always held in April. The Feria de Sevilla was started in 1847 as a cattle trading fair, but quickly escalated into the party that it is today. This is one of the most traditional ones where women still dress in the typical flamenco dress. The ferias are also well known for having casetas which are the typical ‘little houses’ along the streets were people go and dance and eat.

Last year, I was lucky enough to go to the Feria de Valdemoro, which is a little town outside Madrid. It was insane, two straight days of partying, drinking, dancing, and great concerts.

La Semana Pasada

-The fiasco that is Valencia CF finally came to a boil as David Albelda finally got his day in court. In the end, the judge told them all to kiss and make up and figure out what to do. Read this article if you aren’t familiar with the situation.

-All of the Spanish teams in the Champions League Round of 16 took to the field. La Liga came out with a 1-2 record.

-Another 1-2 record for La Liga teams in the UEFA Cup. Getafe is through, while Atlético and Villarreal are out.

-Are the problems at Atlético linked to the departure of Riquelme? I always thought it was ridiculous that one of the best strikers around was sitting the bench at Villareal, but as the article says, he was about to sign at Atlético when he was shipped back to Boca, and now what.
I’m sure that Valencia fans are not that disappointed since Riquelme’s return to Boca was partially the reason for the sale of Ever Banega to the Valencian club.

-Luis and Raul finally shook hands and played Switzerland, but some people are a bit confused at who ‘didn’t drop their pants’.

-Tim Stannard has his weekend preview ready. It’s always a doozy.

Sevilla are looking to rebound on a 3-2 loss in the Champions League while Zaragoza are out for revenge after getting hosed in last week’s Barcelona game.

Deportivo v Espanyol

Manuel Pablo, Depor’s captain, said he wasn’t ‘disappointed, but he was pissed off’ after last week’s debacle at Recreativo. Maybe this will give the blanquiazules the boost they need.

 

Mallorca v Betis

The cucumbers of Sevilla are coming off quite an upset against Madrid, but the sun shines on a dog’s ass somedays.

Murcia v Valladolid
11:00pm

Valladoid are winless in 3 weeks, but Jose Luis Mendilibar ensures that ‘We don’t have to go crazy because of this bad streak’. Murcia could be a good place to end this streak.

Racing v Almeria
11:00am

Unay Emery is eying at least a UEFA cup spot for Almeria this season, while Racing are looking to re-coup theirs.

Athletic v Villareal

Yawn! Villareal will find a way in the San Mames.

Osasuna v Atlético

Ziganda said ”I’m sure that Aguirre feels a lot more pressure than I do”, referring to the struggling Atlético who bowed out of the UEFA cup this week.

Barcleona v Levante

You can’t get any more lopsided than Barcelona v Levante this week, David v Goliath may not even describe this game. But why do I still think the Cules may struggle?

Real Madrid v Getafe

¡AUPA GETA!! If I wasn’t a Sevillista, I would for sure be a Getafe fan. Schuster will be going to his old stomping grounds, and assured this week he will continue his rants against the La Liga ref’s.
